The Herons of the Broek
As early as the 13th century, the water in this area protected the nearby Montfort castle. Later, peat was mainly extracted there. It is a unique nature reserve full of rare birds, amphibians, butterflies, dragonflies and plants. Badgers also live here. You can follow the dive of a tree falcon here. Or see a roe deer or a fox come out of the woods at dusk.
Location
You reach watchtower Reigersbroek from the car park at Landgoed Rozendaal, junction Rozendaal/Voorste Rozendaalweg, Montfort. Follow walking node 27-26-32-7. At node 7, walk towards node 13. Take the first dirt road on the left. After about 400 metres is the watchtower. Walk back to node 7-3-30-78-28 towards node 27. Length of route is about 5 kilometres.
