De Draak

The Dragon on the roundabout in Beesel is the symbol of the Dragon Village Beesel and the Dragon Festival. It is a 10-metre-high work of art, made of steel, which shows traffic from all directions the way to Beesel.

The Dragon was purchased by the municipality of Beesel in 2009. It was made by artist Rik van Rijswick. He has worked on it for no less than 2 years. The message that Rik wants to symbolise with the dragon is the raw, the primal, the honest and the subconscious that manifests itself in us and suddenly, unexpectedly, comes out like a jet of fire.

Whoever is aware of this can see the beauty and love of the dragon and can derive pure power from it.

Beesel and the dragon are inseparable.
